There are many different forms of cistiflora, but this is the rarest and most sought after. The huge purple flowers are breath taking. This form is known only from one small population on a farm in South Africa. It's a winter grower from South Africa, so it dies back to the ground in late spring. Let them dry out until the peat shrinks away from the pot, sprinkling lightly only occasionally during its dormancy. Around thanksgiving plants should begin to be watered regularly until growth resumes; grow them in a tray of water until they die back again. Plants grow 6-8" tall. Mature plants have giant 3" pink-purple flowers with black centers atop delicate looking plants. Click on the above photo to see the flower. A must have for the sundew collector.
