The unusual pitchers of S. minor have an almost grinning, monkish appearance. Mature pitchers are green with a coppery red top and are around 12 inches tall.
On the upper portion of the back side of the pitcher are many opaque light windows that further befuddle their prey. Flowers are mid-sized and buttery yellow. It ranges from southeastern North Carolina all the way down to Florida.
