S. x lamentations is one of Peter's classic cultivars. It has very narrow pitchers that are very dark red with lids that point upward, which makes the pitchers appear to be gaping wide in lament. Damon crossed it by the dark red, almost black form of alata in hopes of creating a vigorous cross with very dark and narrow pitchers.
