Venus flytraps are some of the most iconic carnivorous plants of all time. They make wonderful additions to a garden landscape and look particularly awe inspiring when planted en masse. We have created this Venus flytrap bog kit for anyone who is obsessed with these amazing plants! It's easy and fun to put together and makes a great gift. This is Daniela's favorite new item! And we will ship this kit for free!
If you order this kit in the summer, it’s best to place it in full morning sun outside, where it will be protected from the afternoon sun a bit, just to reduce the shock to the plants. By the next year, they’ll be fully acclimated and will not need as much protection.
We send you a 12 x 5 inch terracotta plastic pot, XX-large water saucer, two bags of soil mix, long-fibered sphagnum moss to cover holes of pot and six bare-root Venus flytraps. The flytraps we send vary but we send a mix of six plants and three cultivars.
(Please note, the second photo shows a completed bog where several of the larger, clumped plants were divided to make more plants. We send six plants and many of them are very clumpy so you can easily separate the smaller plants to fill in your bog more.)
Sun: Full sun outdoors
Water: Always sitting in at least two inches of distilled or purified water
Temperature: 40 degrees - 80 degrees, can even take temperatures from freezing to 100 degrees but only for short periods
Dormancy: Plants in this collection require a winter dormancy starting in October and ending in February. Many of the leaves will turn black and die back during this time. Leave them outdoors in full sun, sitting in distilled water during this period. If you live in an area that snows; over winter them indoors on a sunny windowsill in an unheated room or garage. Still sitting in full sun and distilled water.
