Damons been starting to make very complicated psittacina crosses in order to create some truly unique forms. This cross has turned out to be one of his favorites this year! ‘Joe Mazrimas’ is a complicated, psittacina heavy cross that Peter made in the 90’s and Damon crossed it with ‘Deep Throat’ hoping it’s giant mouth would open up the pitchers. To his delight, it’s done exactly that!

All of these little plants are extremely bushy with charming little pitchers that look like mushrooms!

Care Instructions

Sun: Full sun outdoors
Water: Always sitting in at least two inches of distilled or purified water, they prefer deep saucers of water or undrained containers to recreate their very waterlogged conditions
Temperature: 15 degrees - 100 degrees, needs protection from colder winters and always keep very wet when hot
Dormancy: All Sarracenia require a winter dormancy starting in October and ending in February. Many of the pitchers will turn brown and die back during this time. Leave them outdoors in full sun, sitting in distilled water during this period. If you live in an area that snows; overwinter them indoors on a sunny windowsill in an unheated room or garage.
