We send you a 12 x 5 inch terracotta plastic pot, XX-large water saucer, two bags of soil mix (with long-fibered sphagnum moss to cover holes of pot) and the following temperate plants to transplant into the bog:
Two Venus flytraps (Dionaea), one larger American Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia), one smaller American Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia) and two temperate sundews (Drosera). We are starting to ship these plants bare-root rather than potted to prevent damage in shipping, eventually all the plants will be bare-root but we are in a transition and some will come potted and some bare-root.
Daniela will walk you through building your own bog:
Sun: Full sun outdoors
Water: Always sitting in at least two inches of distilled or purified water
Temperature: 40 degrees - 80 degrees, can even take temperatures from freezing to 100 degrees but only for short periods
Dormancy: Plants in this collection require a winter dormancy starting in October and ending in February. Many of the leaves will turn black and die back during this time. Leave them outdoors in full sun, sitting in distilled water during this period. If you live in an area that snows; over winter them indoors on a sunny windowsill in an unheated room or garage. Still sitting in full sun and distilled water.
