When you see "Deluxe Potted" after the name of a plant on our website, it means that it will be shipped potted. "Deluxe Potted" plants are shipped in our favorite, high quality, durable, plastic pots and have grown into the special blend of soil formulated for that particular plant. Most of our potted plants do not need to be re-potted for at least a year. We almost always recommend shipping plants potted.
When you see the option to ship a plant "Bare-Root" the plant will be removed from the soil. It's roots will be wrapped nestled in damp sphagnum moss and the whole plant will be placed in a plastic bag. Once you receive the plant you will need to plant it in the appropriate soil mixture.
We do not recommend bare-root shipping for most plants. If you are interested in getting your plants shipped bare-root, you can include a request in the "Customer Notes" section of the online order form. Many plants can be bare-rooted but some, like pygmy sundews, cannot. Bare-rooting does increase the shock a plant goes through during shipping and is particularly damaging to plants that are in their active growing cycle.
Our website is very up to date with available plants. You can add plants to your cart and get a shipping estimate when you enter your zip code in the "Shopping Cart" screen. Once you have placed your order you will receive an order confirmation email. Once the order ships you will get an email noting that the order has shipped and an email from the USPS with tracking information.
You can also call us at 707-824-0433 to place an order over the phone. While our website is very up to date, we do have more plants available in the nursery that may not be listed. Please do not hesitate to contact us to place an order or if you are looking for something that is not listed on our website.
We ship all plants via the United States Post Office Priority Mail 3 Day service.
We ship growing supplies Internationally via USPS First Class International Mail. We cannot ship live plants outside of the United States. If you place an order for live plants to be shipped to an International location, your order will be cancelled and you will be refunded. California Carnivores will not be responsible for additional cost due to importing, such as customs charges.
All plants are guaranteed to arrive in good condition. If you receive a shipment in poor condition or that has been damaged please contact us immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 707-824-0433. Please be sure to take a photo of the damaged plant upon arrival.
The plants we photograph for our website are representative of the plants we ship. Plants are photographed during their growing season. While dormant, they may appear smaller, or maybe even dead, but will quickly grow to look like the one photographed when they resume growth, if properly cared for. We ship dormant plants with a "Dormant" label.
Once an order is placed and payment received, your order will go out on the next shipping date. We ship Monday, Wednesday and Friday year round. Exceptions include all major holidays and severe weather which will delay shipment to the next business day. During busier times of year like the Christmas holiday or the summer, your order may take a few extra days to process.
We cannot ship live plants outside of the United States. If you place an order for live plants to be shipped to an International location, your order will be cancelled and you will be refunded. We can ship hard goods. Please be aware that the shipping costs will be quite high to ship a heavy item like MaxSea from the United States to another country, we do ship via the most cost effective option; the USPS but it is still expensive.
