Pinguicula lusitanica Deluxe Potted
Pinguicula lusitanca is a tiny species that often behaves like an annual but produces abundant seed and is very easy to grow. The rosettes are usually around 1 inch across and sometimes larger. The elliptical leaves are deeply rolled, translucent, often pinkish and veined in red. Hairs along the center of the leaf force insects to be trapped along the glandular margins. It has small, funnel shaped, pale pink flowers. It grows well in cool and warm greenhouses, in terrariums, on windowsills and in bog gardens. Since it grows quickly from seed, it succeeds as a summer annual outdoors in cold temperate climates, but you should collect seed to sow the following year.
