Sarracenia flava "Sappony Creek, Sussex Co, VA" Potted

$ 24.99

Sarracenia flava “Sappony Creek, Sussex Co, VA” is the perfect plant if you’re from an area with very cold Winters! Don’t miss out on these Virginia flava genetics. Virginia is the northern most part of Sarracenia flava range so these plants will be more cold hardy than their southern cousins. There is a nice mix of maxima and ornata color forms in this batch. Seeds produced by Steve Galic.

Care Instructions
Sun: Full sun outdoors
Water: Always sitting in at least two inches of distilled or purified water
Temperature: 20 degrees - 80 degrees, can even take temperatures from freezing to 100 degrees but only for short periods. While these will be more cold hardy than other Sarracenia, we don’t know what lows they can reasonably experience especially as in-ground, in bogs, they will be offered more natural protection than in pots. You can expect them to be more cold hardy but take care to insulate them in winter as you would any other Sarracenia.
Dormancy: All Sarracenia require a winter dormancy starting in October and ending in February. Many of the pitchers will turn brown and die back during this time. Leave them outdoors in full sun, sitting in distilled water during this period. If you live in an area that snows; over winter them indoors on a sunny windowsill in an unheated room or garage. Still sitting in full sun and distilled water.
