Sarracenia rubra ssp. gulfensis ( ancestral x giant ) x ( ‘Deep Throat’ ) Potted

$ 14.99
Size: Small

The mother for this cross is a plant that Damon made a long time ago and has always loved; a giant rubra ssp. gulfensis with the boxy mouth of it's ancestral form.

Damon has crossed this robust rubra with the famous 'Deep Throat'; known for it's spectacularly wide open mouth and vaulted lid!

With both parents in this cross having such wide, gaping mouths, we're super excited to see what these plants will look like at maturity! (We've already nicknamed these "Pelican" in the nursery for their wide-open mouths.)

Care Instructions

Sun: Full sun outdoors
Water: Always sitting in at least two inches of distilled or purified water, they prefer deep saucers of water or undrained containers in order to recreate their very waterlogged conditions
Temperature: 15 degrees - 100 degrees, needs protection from colder winters and always keep very wet when hot
Dormancy: All Sarracenia require a winter dormancy starting in October and ending in February. Many of the pitchers will turn brown and die back during this time. Leave them outdoors in full sun, sitting in distilled water during this period. If you live in an area that snows; overwinter them indoors on a sunny windowsill in an unheated room or garage. Still sitting in full sun and distilled water.
