Sarracenia x “Lovebird” Potted

$ 74.99
Size: Large

Sarracenia x “Lovebird” is a plant that’s been in the CalCarn collection for decades, probably made by Peter in the early days. We just divided it for the first time in years and years and have some for sale and while we don’t know the exact parentage, it’s so lovely we decided to give it a name! The name is a nod to its charming bird-like shape and to one of Peter’s favorite movie, The Birds! These are very limited in quantity and are divisions.

Please note that Sarracenia are temperate plants that go dormant in winter, die back to the rhizomes in the soil, and grow again in spring. Some pitchers on different species/hybrids can die back in the Fall. They are at the height of growth in Summer and may be smaller than the photos in the listing if purchased at a different time of year. Plant sizing is variable depending on time of year, parentage, and individual genetics between seeds.

Care Instructions
Sun: Full sun outdoors
Water: Always sitting in at least two inches of distilled or purified water, they prefer deep saucers of water or undrained containers in order to recreate their very water logged conditions
Temperature: 15 degrees - 100 degrees, needs protection from colder winters and always keep very wet when hot
Dormancy: All Sarracenia require a winter dormancy starting in October and ending in February. Many of the pitchers will turn brown and die back during this time. Leave them outdoors in full sun, sitting in distilled water during this period. If you live in an area that snows; over winter them indoors on a sunny windowsill in an unheated room or garage. Still sitting in full sun and distilled water.
