Dionaea m. 'DC-XL' Potted

$ 19.99

Dionaea m. 'DC-XL' is one of the most well known flytraps due to it's huge traps!  We are very excited to be offering this highly sought after cultivar.

PLEASE NOTE THAT VENUS FLYTRAPS ARE DORMANT FROM OCTOBER - FEBRUARY.  When we ship these plants dormant they can appear smaller than the photograph but they will grow vigorously again in spring!

Sun: Full sun outdoors
Water: Always sitting in at least two inches of distilled or purified water
Temperature: 20 degrees - 80 degrees, can even take temperatures from freezing to 100 degrees but only for short periods
Dormancy: All Venus flytraps require a winter dormancy starting in October and ending in February. Many of the traps will turn black and die back during this time. Leave them outdoors in full sun, sitting in distilled water during this period. If you live in an area that snows; over winter them indoors on a sunny windowsill in an unheated room or garage. Still sitting in full sun and distilled water.

Tiny and failed to come out of dormancy. You can find a better flytrap at a hardware store for 5$. Seems a common theme with CalCarn these days. 15 years ago they sold mature plants. Not sure what happened…

Tiny and unviable. Tiny overpriced plant never came out of dormancy whereas my 5$ flytrap from Lowe’s is flowering…These guys are insanely greedy so I don’t expect a refund. Try selling a viable, mature plant for once.

Edit: No replacement was sent; they simply had to reroute the order due to address.

Second, my other flytraps came out of dormancy (none from CalCarn). Smallest flytrap I’ve ordered in my years of growing them. First to not emerge from dormancy.

Great product arrived packaged well. Grew vigorously last summer and then was put in the fridge for dormancy during winter. Now repotted in a bigger pot and starting to get massive again. Highly recommend!
