Dionaea m. “Thundercat” Potted

Dionaea m. “Thundercat” is a brand new release Venus flytrap cultivar from California Carnivores! We’ve grown this plant in our botanical collection for years. It was first selected from a seed batch due to its deep red coloration and we quickly became obsessed with the unbelievable arch of each trap, with widely spaced cilia reaching like splayed claws! Each mature trap can grow to a nice size with a thick red line along the outside of the cilia and along the lower arch of the trap while the cilia deepen to a dark, blood red. We only have a few divisions of this rare and exceptional plant!

PLEASE NOTE ALL VENUS FLYTRAPS ARE DORMANT IN WINTER AND ARE VERY SMALL WHEN SHIPPED OCTOBER - FEBRUARY.  They will grow vigorously as photoperiods lengthen.

Sun: Full sun outdoors
Water: Always sitting in at least two inches of distilled or purified water
Temperature: 20 degrees - 80 degrees, can even take temperatures from freezing to 100 degrees but only for short periods
Dormancy: All Venus flytraps require a winter dormancy starting in October and ending in February. Many of the traps will turn black and die back during this time. Leave them outdoors in full sun, sitting in distilled water during this period. If you live in an area that snows; over winter them indoors on a sunny windowsill in an unheated room or garage. Still sitting in full sun and distilled water.
