Drosera capensis 'narrow leaf' Potted

$ 9.99

If you have been thinking about growing carnivorous plants but don't know where to start, look no further than Drosera capensis.  These plants are easy to grow, rewarding and will grow in a variety of conditions.  They will thrive indoors in full sun, on a windowsill or under lights.  They will also do well outside in lots of sun and are cold hardy down to 40 degrees reliably. They will even take a brief freeze with the leaves dying back but the plants regrowing readily from the roots in spring.  After you receive your plant, please note that the dew may take several weeks to a month to reproduce (shipping is a bit rough on the delicate dew).

These plants will also tell you if they need more direct light!  If you notice that it won't produce dew after several weeks, it is not receiving enough direct light.  Always keep it sitting in a small saucer of water as well.

This is the most typical form of Drosera capensis; the leaves are thin and delicate looking with red tentacles tipped in mucilage. The pink flowers unfurl off of long, arching scapes. Cape Sundews catch many gnats, fruit flies and occasionally house flies.

Very good but took a long time to ship

I read that it would take a long time to ship but I didn’t really mind the plant came healthy and with 2 and some live moss! Can’t wait for it to grow big.

Love it

Had never ordered plants online before, was well packed, mostly healthy for sitting in the mail however many days it took. Got it repotted, and it's thriving! took less than a week to get it's dew back! Will order my next plant from CC.

Love this one!

This Sundew came right on time, packaged well and healthy, as are all of the plants that I order through California Carnivores. This guy has thrived from day one, I am anxiously waiting for the flower to open up all the way so I can try my hand at collecting the seeds and growing my own plants. Yup, I'm hooked!

Love this little guy!

I accidentally got this sundew instead of the one I wanted and was trying not to be disappointed, but I fell in love. This plant had zero dew on it on arrival, and some leaves seemed to dry up, but others are getting dew on them after less than 2 weeks. It is at my Mom's, under a grow light to supplement what comes in the window. Even before there was dew visible on the plant, my Mom's hordes of gnats were sticking to the leaves. Yay! We hate those gnats! This plant has new growth coming in, which was all folded but is now stretching out and making dew, plus there is a very tiny baby coming up next to the big one (I thought it was the moss growing at first until it got a little bigger) yet even that extremely teeny one has caught a gnat! I 100% love this plant!

By the way, California Carnivores has outstanding customer service. They got back to my inquiry quickly, sent out the correct plant, and said I should also keep this one, too. I am enjoying both plants immensely. I will never shop for carnivorous plants anywhere else.
