Sarracenia x 'Judith Hindle' Potted

$ 9.99

Sarracenia x 'Judith Hindle' is one of the most beautiful cultivars yet produced, this plant was bred and grown by Alan Hindle in England almost twenty years ago.  He sent a division to California Carnivores and Peter registered it, naming it after Alan's wife.

The compact pitchers have a wildly undulating lid, and start out green, dappled in whites and yellows. As they age, they transform to deep, dark red.  Of the hundreds of Sarracenia in our collection, this is probably the most popular.

Judith Hindle's parents were two different clones of S. (purpurea x flava) x leucophylla.  It is one of the very few Sarracenia in tissue culture, so now everyone can have one!  If you only grow one American pitcher plant, this should be the one. These are tissue culture plants.

Please note that Sarracenia are temperate plants that go dormant in winter, dying back to the rhizome in the soil and growing again in spring. Some of the pitchers on different species/hybrids can start to die back in Fall. They are at the height of growth in Summer and may be smaller than the photos in the listing if purchased at a different time of year. Plant sizing is variable depending on time of year, parentage, and individual genetics between seeds.

Care Instructions
Sun: Full sun outdoors
Water: Always sitting in at least two inches of distilled or purified water, they prefer deep saucers of water or undrained containers in order to recreate their very water logged conditions
Temperature: 15 degrees - 100 degrees, needs protection from colder winters and always keep very wet when hot
Dormancy: All Sarracenia require a winter dormancy starting in October and ending in February. Many of the pitchers will turn brown and die back during this time. Leave them outdoors in full sun, sitting in distilled water during this period. If you live in an area that snows; over winter them indoors on a sunny windowsill in an unheated room or garage. Still sitting in full sun and distilled water.

Sarracenia.

I got small. There were 2 pitchers. Beutiful color, but did notice alot were trimmed off. They arrived healthy and ready for a sun bath. Unfortunately my dog got to it and ate the 2 big pitchers, 😢 but i manage to save it.

This plant is stunning and growing so quickly. It’s already put up quite a few new pitchers since I got it. It was packaged and shipped excellently. I would highly recommend!

Gorgeous plant and outstanding service

My Sarracenia x 'Judith Hindle' arrived on time, packaged carefully to prevent damage in transit. It looks exactly as described on the website, with several 4" pitchers. Some have red tops, and others have white with red venation. I know from your website that the colors will intensify as the plant grows. It's in a south-facing windowsill getting plenty of sunshine and full natural light. It has already sent up a new pitcher, with another on the way. I expect many by summer's end. Additionally, the price is an excellent value. I highly recommend California Carnivores and Peter D'Amato's book _The Savage Garden_ to anyone interested in these captivating plants.
