Sarracenia rubra  ssp jonesii Seed Pack (15 seeds/pack)

Sarracenia rubra ssp. jonesii is probably the most endangered species of the American pitcher plants and grows in only a handful of remaining sites.  Mature plants are beautiful looking with narrow pitchers that have a distinct bulge in the throat just before the mouth.

We’re always excited to offer this critically endangered taxa. We are one of the only nurseries capable of legally shipping them across state lines. These seeds were made from crossing a beautiful red rubra ssp jonesii with other carefully selected jonesii in our collection. The seedlings will have variation in their color and venation.

These seeds are rarely offered in the US and were so excited to be able to make them available to you!

California Carnivores can ship this plant outside of California as per Permit Number ESPER0002076, the plant and any resulting seeds or progeny may not be planted on Federal property, these are artificially propagated. 

Sarracenia are temperate plants and will have the best germination rate with a period of cold stratification. They can take many, many months to germinate. Sometimes, they will sprout within days, but taking a few months is more common.
