Dionaea m. 'Red Dragon' Potted

$ 14.99

We have run out of stock for this item.

Also known as 'Akai Ryu', 'Red Dragon' is an absolutely stunning cultivar of Dionaea!

When grown in bright light, the entire plant is deep dark maroon, almost black.  It can also reach enormous size on long summer petioles.  'Red Dragon' is a must have for the serious flytrap collector!  Try potting it with a contrasting color like a lime green Dionaea m. 'Gremlin' or a bright green Sarracenia flava.

PLEASE NOTE VENUS FLYTRAPS GO DORMANT FROM OCTOBER-FEBRUARY during this time they appear quite small and grow few traps.  They will begin to grow vigorously again in Spring. This particular cultivar goes dormant very hard and dies back almost completely.

Care Instructions

Sun: Full sun outdoors
Water: Always sitting in at least two inches of distilled or purified water
Temperature: 20 degrees - 80 degrees, can even take temperatures from freezing to 100 degrees but only for short periods
Dormancy: All Venus flytraps require a winter dormancy starting in October and ending in February. Many of the traps will turn black and die back during this time. Leave them outdoors in full sun, sitting in distilled water during this period. If you live in an area that snows; over winter them indoors on a sunny windowsill in an unheated room or garage. Still sitting in full sun and distilled water.

This place is amazing! They take their time to individually wrap each plant so perfectly that my plants were not damaged in shipping. I received 4 healthy Fly traps from this seller! I would absolutely recommend and certainly buy again They ROCK!!!!

Beautiful plant!

My partner and I have just recently gotten into plants together! He was super excited that we got one from the guy that he has been watching on YouTube! We were so pleased with the packaging and the appearance of the plant on arrival. Worth every "red" cent spent!!!! Get it , Red Dragon!

Great deal for something unique

Came in great condition and continuing to thrive. Very cool fly trap.

Unfortunately my item never thrived. I reached out to the owner and took the advice they gave but the plant didn’t survive.
