Drosera filiformis "Florida Giant" Potted

$ 17.99

We have run out of stock for this item.

Drosera filiformis var. filiformis comes from the Florida Panhandle.  This thread leaf Sundew can grow up to twenty inches tall!  The long, thin, thread like leaves are covered in red tentacles which glitter and glisten in the sun; making it a lovely addition to any bog garden.

Please note, these plants die back to hibernacula in the soil in winter, making a small onion-like growth nestled in just at the soil surface. They grow their spring leaves when the temperatures increase and the day length lengthens! If you order in winter, they will arrive dormant and died back.

Care Instructions
Sun: Full sun indoors, or outdoors
Water: Always sitting in at least two inches of distilled or purified water
Temperature: 20 degrees - 80 degrees, can even take temperatures from freezing to 100 degrees but only for short periods
Dormancy: Requires a winter dormancy starting in October and ending in February. Many of the leaves will turn black and die back during this time. Leave them outdoors in full sun, sitting in distilled water during this period. If you live in an area that snows; over winter them indoors on a sunny windowsill in an unheated room or garage. Still sitting in full sun and distilled water.
